Who are the 'order of the illuminate'? are they the power behind the power?

i was reading about nick berg today, and someone thought that these illumiate were securitly responsible for his beheading and that he was not killed,by islamic jihadd fighters. some other people think that, that person in the video wasnt even nicholas berg..i was reading about the 'order of the illuminate' today and on there website and they were saying that all the stories about them and an evil new world order are false, but they do claim to worship the god, baphomet. on their website, you can even fill out an application to join them and on there website they have a contact telephone number. i tried to ring them, but a strange think happend after a few dull rings, a mechanical voice came on the phone that said, 'im sorry but this phone is incompatable'. then it hung up....my question is who are the ' order of the illuminate'? who are the faces behind them? are there any photographs circulating showing who they actually are?
