Soothie Pacifiers help..?

My little one has been using the regular Soothie since birth, she is now 2 mos. I just bought her pink Soothies but noticed after I opened the package and stuck it in her mouth that they are much harder. They are called Super Soothies... what is the difference between the two... and the purpose???
