Is it normal these days for 14 year old drummers to play like neil pert?

ok...i've gotten used to seeing them play guitar, ripping eruption like it was nothing...but i walked into guitar center the other day and this kid was tearing down the house on a full pearl setup...wtf! where do these kids come from?
