How do i use frozen fruit when i am baking?

I wanted to make a cherry cobbler,but I usually use fresh fruit, never used frozen, is there a method? Do I thaw them and drain or put in frozen and bake? Do I have to increase my baking times and what about runniness, do I add cornstarch? Thanks!
